 Star Rotor
In March 2008, ZWES executed a Memorandum of Understanding with Star Rotor of Texas to assist in the financing and development of its breakthrough rotary compressor and engine design. Included in this MOU was an agreement with one of the world’s largest industrial component manufacturers for the development of an advanced, highly efficient air conditioning system for the commercial and residential market. This unit will utilize the Star Rotor compressor design, and is currently under development.
It is ZWES’ intention to work closely with Star Rotor to develop a small stationary generator set that will produce up to 50% more electricity from the same amount of feedstock as conventional gensets, but with the ability to use far lower-BTU fuels that cannot be used by existing technologies.
The engine, when complete, is estimated to be up to three times as efficient in automotive applications as existing engines, and 50-100% more efficient in stationary applications. ZWES intends to license the technology for its renewable energy applications, and test it in a pilot with mixed alcohol fuels out of the MixAlco process, bioliquids produced by ABRI technology, and with biomethane produced by the EEC technology.
